10% Fenbendazole

Safe-Guard® Fenbendazole Paste 10% is a convenient, palatable dewormer formulated for horses of all ages — including foals and pregnant or lactating mares. Each 25 g tube contains fenbendazole and an apple-cinnamon flavoring to promote acceptance and reduce waste. The paste provides reliable treatment and control of a broad range of internal parasites commonly found in horses.

• Effective against: large strongyles, small strongyles, encysted cyathostome larvae (early & late 3rd stage and 4th stage), pinworms (Oxyuris equi), ascarids (Parascaris equorum), and arteritis caused by 4th stage Strongylus vulgaris larvae
• Apple-cinnamon flavored paste for improved palatability and less waste
• One 25 g tube treats up to 1,250 lb (approximately 568 kg) bodyweight
• Safe for use in foals, breeding stallions, and pregnant or lactating mares
• Convenient syringe paste for accurate, hassle-free dosing

Dosage:

• Foals & Weanlings (under 18 months):
  Since ascarids are common at this age, use 4.6 mg per lb (10 mg/kg) of body weight. One syringe will treat a 550 lb horse.
• Adult Horses (large strongyles, small strongyles, pinworms):
  Use 2.3 mg per lb (5 mg/kg) of body weight.
• For encysted larvae and Strongylus vulgaris (advanced treatment):
  Use 4.6 mg per lb (10 mg/kg) of body weight daily for 5 consecutive days.
  One syringe per 550 lb body weight per day.

Important: Always dose according to the horse’s current weight. Do not underdose, as this may reduce effectiveness and encourage parasite resistance.

Directions for Use:

1. Determine the weight of the horse.
2. Remove the syringe tip.
3. Turn the dial ring until the edge of the ring nearest the tip lines up with zero.
4. Depress the plunger to advance paste to tip.
5. Set the dial ring at the graduation nearest the weight of the horse for the dosage rate of 5 mg/kg. For the dosage rate of 10 mg/kg, set the dial ring at two times the horse's weight.
   
6. Horse's mouth should be free of food.
7. Insert nozzle of syringe through the interdental space and deposit the paste on the back of the tongue by depressing the plunger.

Ingredients:

Active ingredient: Fenbendazole 10% (100 mg/g).
Other ingredients: Apple-cinnamon flavoring and paste base (inactive ingredients).

When used concomitantly with other products (for example, trichlorfon for bots), follow the manufacturers’ label directions and cautions for each product.
