Rx Vetmedin® Chewable Tablets for Dogs (Pimobendan)

Vetmedin® (pimobendan) is a prescription cardiac medication for dogs used to manage congestive heart failure (CHF) and, in appropriate cases, delay the onset of CHF in dogs with Stage B2 preclinical myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD). This inodilator works through two complementary actions: it helps relax blood vessels to reduce the workload on the heart and improves heart muscle contraction to support more efficient blood flow.

Vetmedin Chewable Tablets are beef-flavored and scored for flexible dosing as directed by your veterinarian. The prescribed dose is based on your dog's body weight and is generally divided into two daily administrations approximately 12 hours apart. When used as directed, Vetmedin has been shown to improve quality of life and extend survival in dogs with heart failure due to MMVD.

Features:

  • Active Ingredient: Pimobendan.
  • Prescription Cardiac Medication: For use in dogs under veterinary supervision.
  • Dual Action: Helps reduce the workload on the heart while improving heart muscle contraction.
  • Approved Uses: Helps manage congestive heart failure associated with clinical MMVD or dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and delays the onset of CHF in eligible dogs with Stage B2 preclinical MMVD.
  • Palatable Chewable Tablets: Beef-flavored, oblong tablets with a score for splitting.
  • Available Strengths: 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg, 5 mg, and 10 mg.
  • Available Quantities: Single tablet or 50-tablet supply, depending on the selected option.

Dosage and Administration:

Administer orally according to your veterinarian's directions. The labeled total daily dose is 0.23 mg/lb (0.5 mg/kg) of body weight, divided into two portions given approximately 12 hours apart, typically morning and evening. The portions do not need to be equal. Tablets may be divided along the score as directed by your veterinarian. Do not change the dose or schedule without veterinary guidance.
