Rx Phenylbute Powder for Horses – Phenylbutazone NSAID

Phenylbute® Powder is a prescription non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for horses. It is used for the relief of inflammatory conditions associated with the musculoskeletal system, helping manage pain and inflammation associated with conditions such as arthritis, joint injuries, sprains, strains, tendonitis, and muscular overuse. The orange-flavored powder is designed for oral administration and can be mixed with a small amount of palatable feed.

Indications:

For the relief of inflammatory conditions associated with the musculoskeletal system in horses. When inflammation is associated with an infection, appropriate anti-infective therapy should be used concurrently as directed by a veterinarian.

Active Ingredient:

Phenylbutazone: 1 gram per 10 grams of powder

Directions:

For oral use in horses only. Administer on a small amount of palatable feed and mix well. Give 1–2 level scoops per 500 pounds of body weight. Use the higher dosage during the first 48 hours, then gradually reduce to a maintenance dosage as directed by your veterinarian. Do not exceed 4 level scoops per horse per day.

Storage:

Store at controlled room temperature, 59°–86°F (15°–30°C), in a dry environment.

Cautions/Warnings:

For oral use in horses only. Do not use in horses intended for human consumption. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. Use caution in horses with significant liver disease, serious renal disease, serious cardiac disease, or blood disorders. Do not administer with other NSAIDs or corticosteroids unless specifically directed by a veterinarian. Keep out of reach of children and animals. If an inflammatory condition is associated with an infection, appropriate anti-infective treatment should be used concurrently.

Federal law prohibits the extralabel use of this product in female dairy cattle 20 months of age or older.
