Rx Percorten-V Injectable Suspension for Dogs

Percorten-V® (desoxycorticosterone pivalate) is a prescription injectable medication used as replacement therapy for mineralocorticoid deficiency associated with primary hypoadrenocorticism (Addison’s disease) in dogs. This long-acting mineralocorticoid helps regulate sodium and potassium balance and supports normal fluid balance. Treatment requires ongoing veterinary monitoring to determine the appropriate dosage and injection schedule.

Possible Side Effects:

Reported side effects include depression or lethargy, vomiting, decreased appetite (anorexia), increased thirst (polydipsia), and increased urination (polyuria). Some effects may improve with veterinary adjustments to the dose or dosing interval, or with concurrent glucocorticoid therapy. Contact your veterinarian if your dog develops side effects or changes in condition.

Ingredients:

Each mL contains 25 mg desoxycorticosterone pivalate, 10.5 mg methylcellulose, 3 mg sodium carboxymethylcellulose, 1 mg polysorbate 80, and 8 mg sodium chloride, with 0.002% thimerosal as a preservative in water for injection.

Storage:

Store at controlled room temperature, approximately 77°F (25°C); permitted excursions are 59–86°F (15–30°C). Protect from light. Do not freeze.

Cautions/Warnings:

Do not use in pregnant dogs or dogs with congestive heart failure, severe renal disease, or edema. Dosage reduction may be necessary in dogs showing signs of hypernatremia (high blood sodium) or hypokalemia (low blood potassium). Excessive dosage or prolonged treatment with adrenocortical hormones may cause serious adverse effects. Regular veterinary monitoring is necessary to assess response and adjust treatment as needed.
