Rx Famciclovir Tablets, 125 mg
Rx Famciclovir 125 mg is a prescription antiviral medication used to help manage feline herpesvirus type-1 (FHV-1) infections in cats. FHV-1, also known as feline viral rhinotracheitis (FVR), is a common cause of upper respiratory disease and conjunctivitis in cats of all ages. While feline herpes infections cannot be cured, famciclovir helps control viral replication, reduce clinical signs, and lessen the severity and frequency of flare-ups.
Famciclovir works by inhibiting viral DNA replication, helping manage symptoms such as sneezing, nasal discharge, eye inflammation, and ocular discharge associated with feline herpesvirus infections. Because herpesviruses can remain dormant within the body, recurrence may occur even with long-term or lifelong treatment.
For additional support, veterinarians may recommend combining treatment with an L-lysine supplement. L-lysine may help reduce viral replication by competing with L-arginine, an amino acid required by the herpes virus.
