Iron Dextran Complex Injection, 200 mg/mL

Ferrodex 200 is an injectable iron supplement for piglets that helps prevent and treat iron-deficiency anemia during early growth. Each 1 mL contains 200 mg of elemental iron to support healthy hemoglobin levels, normal growth, and overall health. It is administered by intramuscular injection.

Dosage and Administration:

• Prevention: Administer 1 mL (200 mg elemental iron) by intramuscular injection at 1–3 days of age.
• Treatment: Administer 1 mL (200 mg elemental iron) by intramuscular injection at the first signs of iron-deficiency anemia.

Disinfect the vial stopper and injection site before use. Use a sterile 20-gauge, 5/8-inch needle. Inject into the back of the ham, placing tension on the skin and inserting the needle approximately 1/2 inch or slightly deeper.

Product supplied as a 100 mL multidose vial. 

Storage:

Store at controlled room temperature, 59°F–86°F (15°C–30°C).

Cautions and Warnings:

Occasionally, piglets may experience reactions characterized by prostration and muscular weakness; severe cases may result in death. Intramuscular injection in pigs older than 4 weeks may cause staining of the ham muscle. Use the product within 60 days of first puncture. Do not puncture the stopper more than 20 times. Keep out of reach of children.
