Powerful treatment and prevention for equine gastric ulcers.

Rx GastroGard® Paste contains omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor used to treat and help prevent the recurrence of gastric ulcers in horses and foals 4 weeks of age and older. This oral medication reduces stomach acid production to support ulcer healing and maintain a healthier gastric environment.

Directions:

Administer orally according to the horse’s body weight and the prescribed treatment or prevention regimen. Follow your veterinarian’s instructions and the current product label.

Treatment of gastric ulcers:

• Administer once daily for 4 weeks at a dose of 1.8 mg omeprazole per pound (4 mg/kg) of body weight.
• Each syringe contains 2.28 g of omeprazole and provides a treatment dose for a 1,250 lb (568 kg) horse.
• Each weight marking on the syringe plunger provides enough medication to treat 250 lb (114 kg) of body weight.

Prevention of ulcer recurrence:

• Administer once daily for an additional 4 weeks at a dose of 0.9 mg omeprazole per pound (2 mg/kg) of body weight.
• Each weight marking provides enough medication to dose 500 lb (227 kg) of body weight at the prevention rate.

Storage:

Store at 68–77°F (20–25°C). Temperature excursions between 59–86°F (15–30°C) are permitted.

Cautions and Warnings:

• For use in horses and foals 4 weeks of age and older.
• The safety of GastroGard® Paste has not been established in pregnant or lactating mares.
• Keep this and all medications out of reach of children.
• In case of accidental human ingestion, contact a physician.
• Use under veterinary guidance.
