Apoquel Chewable (oclacitinib) is a prescription medication designed to help control itching and inflammation associated with allergic skin disease and atopic dermatitis in dogs. Its targeted action helps relieve allergic itch at its source, reducing scratching, licking, and chewing so dogs can experience relief from persistent skin irritation.

Apoquel Chewable begins relieving allergic itch within 4 hours and can control itching within 24 hours. Suitable for short-term or long-term management when prescribed by a veterinarian, these pork-liver-flavored chewable tablets offer a convenient alternative to traditional tablets. Available in 3.6 mg, 5.4 mg, and 16 mg strengths for dogs 12 months of age and older.

Indications:

For the control of itching associated with allergic dermatitis and the control of atopic dermatitis in dogs at least 12 months of age.

Directions:

Administer orally as directed by your veterinarian. The recommended dose is 0.18–0.27 mg of oclacitinib per pound (0.4–0.6 mg/kg) of body weight. The appropriate tablet strength and dosing schedule depend on the dog's weight and veterinary prescription. May be given with or without food.

Possible Side Effects:

The most commonly reported side effects include vomiting and diarrhea. Other reported effects may include lethargy, decreased appetite, and changes in bloodwork. Contact your veterinarian if your dog develops concerning symptoms while taking Apoquel Chewable.

Cautions/Warnings:

For use in dogs only. Do not use in dogs younger than 12 months of age, dogs with serious infections, or dogs intended for breeding or that are pregnant or lactating. Apoquel Chewable may increase susceptibility to serious infections, worsen existing parasitic skin infestations, and aggravate pre-existing cancerous conditions. New benign and malignant growths have been observed in clinical studies and after approval. Discuss the risks and benefits with your veterinarian, particularly if your dog has a history of recurring infections or cancer. Use with corticosteroids, cyclosporine, or other systemic immunosuppressive medications has not been evaluated. Apoquel Chewable has been used with many common medications, including parasiticides, antibiotics, and vaccines. Keep in a secure location out of reach of dogs, cats, and other animals to prevent accidental ingestion or overdose.

Storage:

Store at controlled room temperature between 68°F and 77°F, with permitted excursions between 59°F and 104°F. Keep securely stored and out of reach of pets and children.
