FAQs/ Frequently Asked Questions on Amigo Products:
Choosing the Right Size
How should I measure my horse to choose the right Amigo Bravo size? How do I choose the right Amigo rug size for my horse?
Begin at center of chest. Work your way around the shoulder towards the rear. Keep tape measure flat & straight. Include the widest point of your horse’s barrel & rear, but do not include the tail. If your measurements fall in between sizes, size up.
All our product pages for Amigo Horse Blankets and Horse Rugs have a size chart link to help guide you decide on the perfect size for your horse. You can use that as a reliable reference.
Which sizes are available for the Amigo Bravo rugs and how do I choose the right size for my horse?
Amigo Bravo rugs have seven sizes: 66", 69", 72", 75", 78", 81" and 84" (all in inches). We have the Horseware Amigo Bravo 12 Wug Medium Weight Turnout Blanket and the Amigo Bravo 12 Plus Medium Weight Turnout Blanket with Detachable Hood available in our online catalog in different colors including Black, Grey & Silver; Black & Blue; and Green, Aqua & Turquoise to accommodate both you and your horse's preferences.
Features Deep-Dive
What are the main features of the Amigo 3-in-1 horse rug and when should I use each layer?
The Amigo 3-in-1 Horse Rug Fly Sheet is a hybrid, waterproof, and breathable rug featuring a camouflage print to deter flies. It combines a 600D waterproof top with mesh sides, a detachable hood, disc front closure, and deep, protective cut. It is designed for changeable, wet, or sunny spring/summer days, providing 60%+ UV protection.
Use the full setup during wet, warm, or unpredictable spring and autumn days when flies are present but rain is also expected. Wearing only the rug is ideal for warmer, dry, or mildly showery days when the horse needs fly protection but does not need neck coverage. Lastly, the detachable hood is perfect for wet, sunny days to protect against UV rays and keep the neck dry during showers.
What is the difference between Amigo Bravo Lite and the standard Amigo Bravo horse rug?
The Amigo Bravo Lite is a lightweight, waterproof turnout rug with 0g–100g of fill, designed for warmer or rainy weather, while the standard Amigo Bravo 12 range refers to a broader series that includes heavy-weight, insulated winter blankets. Both feature 1200D polyester, liner compatibility, and V-front closures.
How does the Amigo Bravo Rug 12 compare to the Bravo 12 Plus in terms of insulation and fit?
The primary difference between the Amigo Bravo 12 and the Amigo Bravo 12 Plus lies in the included accessories and closure system, rather than the core material. Both feature a 1200D polyester waterproof outer, but the Plus model is generally more versatile. It features a detachable hood as standard and often a more adjustable front closure system.
Are there differences between the Amigo Bravo 100g turnout rug and the 100g version with Plus in terms waterproofing and weight?
In waterproofing, both rugs are made from a strong 1200D polyester waterproof and breathable outer; while for weight, both feature 100g fill, but the Plus might feel slightly heavier due to the included, detachable neck cover.
Which Amigo Bravo turnout rug is best for a cold, wet winter for my horse?
We recommend getting the Amigo Bravo 12 Plus Horse Turnout Blanket 250g with Detachable Hood! It's medium weight, waterproof, built with 1200D Polyester Outer, and has a V-front closure. You can choose different color options, too. Because of all these features, it's perfect for the rainy and winter season and keeps your horse all warm and dry. Check it out!
