Oral Liquid, Paste or Pour-On Wormer?

When you undertake the task of deworming your cattle, you basically have three choices: an oral liquid, an oral paste, or a pour-on wormer. The one you go with depends not only on what you prefer but on what your cows prefer.

Oral Liquid Dewormer

Prohibit Oral Liquid Dewormer

Prohibit Oral Liquid Dewormer The Prohibit Oral Cattle Dewormer is a broad-spectrum oral dewormer for cattle and sheep, which battles intestinal worms, stomach worms, and lungworms. It actually comes in powder form, but you simply add water to make it a liquid. Oral liquid dewormers are popular, tried and true formulations sometimes called drenchers. All you have to do is use an oral dosing syringe to administer 2 mL of liquid for every 100 lb of body weight for cattle; and for sheep, it's 1 mL per 50 lb of body weight. The active ingredient in Prohibit is Levamisole Hydrochloride.

Oral Paste Dewormer

Safe-Guard® Paste

Safe-Guard® Paste Looking for something a little thicker or with a gourmet taste designed to truly be enjoyed? Safe-Guard Paste fights intestinal worms, stomach worms, and lungworms. Like a liquid, it's administered orally with a syringe, but the formulation is a paste that's deposited at the back of the animal's mouth and swallowed as if it's a tasty morsel of food. Safe-Guard apple-flavor is more palatable to animals. While it's labeled as an equine dewormer, it's also suitable for cattle, including breeding stock, pregnant cows, lactating dairy cattle, and stressed cattle. One 25-mL tube of Safe-Guard treats animals weighing up to 1100 lbs.

Pour-On Wormer

Ivomec® Eprinex® Pour-On Cattle Wormer

Ivomec® Eprinex® Pour-On Cattle Wormer Pour-On cattle wormer is always an option if administering oral dewormer is not an option. Ivomec® Eprinex® Pour-On Cattle Wormer is applied along the cow's back at 5 mL per 100 lb of body weight. It comes with a measuring cap to make dosing easy, quick, and accurate. It is also weatherproof to prevent washing off in the rain. Eprinex is the broadest-spectrum parasite control product available for cattle, killing 39 species and stages of internal and external parasites, including lungworms, roundworms, grubs, mange mites, horn flies, and lice.
