Rx Vetmedin® Capsules for Dogs contain pimobendan, a prescription medication used to help manage congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs. As part of a class of medications known as inodilators, Vetmedin works by helping the heart pump more efficiently while also relaxing and widening blood vessels to reduce strain on the heart. This dual-action support may help improve circulation, reduce symptoms associated with heart disease, and enhance overall quality of life.

Vetmedin has been shown to help improve clinical signs of congestive heart failure and may help extend life expectancy in dogs diagnosed with certain heart conditions. 

Capsules have been temporarily authorized due to the shortage in the supply of Vetmedin Chewable tablets. Vetmedin Capsules are produced by Boehringer Ingelheim and the FDA is allowing temporary use of it. A new prescription authorization would be required.
