I swear by this cinch. It really opens up the area right behind the elbow.

As many of you know mules can be very hard to fit. My fiance has a draft mule who is also a bit rotund. She was suffering from a recurring girth sore on the near side. We tried several different saddles and girths and readjusted the breeching to no avail.
