Hawthorne's Cool Cast Emollient Leg Bandage offers effective, antiphlogistic care to help reduce inflammation, swelling, and tenderness associated with equine injuries. This versatile bandage is particularly useful after intra-articular injections, providing light support while also addressing conditions such as bowed tendons, stocking up (edema), suspensory ligament damage, wind puffs, and fractured sesamoid bones. In addition to its injury treatment benefits, Cool Cast helps reduce inflammation related to arthritis, tendonitis, and periostitis, making it a comprehensive solution for equine care and recovery.
When applying the Cool Cast bandage, start just above the ankle area. Make three turns around the ankle before moving down and figure 8 the ankle area. Once the ankle has three layers, begin rolling the bandage up the cannon bone and back down the leg, continuing to figure 8 the ankle area for uniform coverage. Always ensure the bandage is applied loosely, without pulling it tight. The bandage should be smooth and well-adjusted as you go. Leave the bandage on for 24 to 72 hours, depending on the severity of the condition. Cool Cast can be left on the leg for extended periods under supervision. If swelling persists after 24 hours, remove the bandage and consult a veterinarian.
For animal use only. Not for use in horses intended for food. Do not apply the bandage tightly to avoid restriction of circulation. Always monitor the swelling, especially with fresh injuries. If swelling does not subside within 24 hours, remove the bandage and seek veterinary advice. Keep out of reach of children and other animals. Use as directed to ensure effectiveness.
