Rx Tramadol HCL 50mg Tablets

Tramadol is a pain reliever used to treat moderate to severe pain in cats and dogs.

Why is this prescribed for your pet?

Tramadol is used to treat post-operative or chronic pain most commonly in dogs, cats, and horses. It can also be used to help with cough. It is sometimes used in conjunction with other pain medications, such as Gabapentin. How to use this medication: Administer as prescribed by your veterinarian. Often, they will have you administer it 2-3 times per day. If you miss a dose and it is almost time for your next dose, skip the original dose and administer the following dose. Do not double up doses. Tramadol may take up to two weeks for full pain relief effects. It may be given with or without food.

Side Effects:

Tramadol is generally well tolerated in dogs. The most common adverse effects include excessive sedation, dizziness, agitation, lack of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation. Less is known about side effects when administered to cats, but possibly agitation and dose avoidance may be possible.

Additional Information:

Tramadol is a schedule 4 controlled medication in the United States.

Warnings:

Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. Keep this medication away from pets.

Precautions:

The safety of Tramadol in pregnant or lactating animals is relatively unknown. Please contact your veterinarian if your animal has been prescribed Tramadol and has become pregnant.

Storage:

Store at room temperature, 77 degrees. Excursions are permitted from 59-86 degrees. Dispense in light-resistant containers away from moisture.
