PRE-VENT Feeders patent pending design was specifically created to increase feed time by slowing down the rate at which a horse ingests its feed. The “compartments” or “cups” at the bottom of the feeder eliminate the possibility of bolting, thus reducing the risk of choke. The design encourages the horse to keep its head down in a natural feeding position, as the horse must work to get the feed out of each of the compartments with its tongue and lips, one cup at a time. This simulated “grazing” effect along with proper chewing can increase the amount of saliva produced by the horse, helping to start the digestion process. This reduces the chance of your horse dropping food on the ground and in turn reduces the ingestion of sand, dirt, or parasites.
PRE-VENT Feeder also prevents food aggression, as the horse is no longer focused on anything else. Made in the USA out of heavy-duty UV protected polypropylene so PRE-VENT feeders® are virtually indestructible. For optimal results and to prevent tipping; PRE-VENT feeders® were designed to be fastened in the corner of a stall or on a fence post in the pasture or paddock.
Important Note: If your horse chokes while eating, the large feeder is recommended.
The small (pink) feeder features five (5) patent pending angled compartments at the bottom of the feeder and six (6) smaller cups. At just over 12" high and 20" across, and less than 4 pounds, it is the perfect fit for smaller barns, stalls, or for traveling with horses.
The original (black) feeder is one-third larger than the small feeder at 15" high and just over 27" across the top of the feeder and 7 pounds. Eight (8) patent pending angled compartments make up the bottom of the original design which was inspired by more than a dozen prototypes over several years.
My horse would take huge amount of grain and try to eat it and it would fall everywhere. I was afraid he was going to choke. I started putting rocks in his bucket and he would through them out. I found the Pre Vent on line. I totally love it and I highly
We have a horse who has choked several times while eating grain. She is an aggressive eater who gulps her food. We tried river rocks in her feeder on the vet's suggestion, but she just threw them out. This works! She hated it at first. But she has even fi
This was easy to install.
Your horse will HATE it at first. But that's because it is doing it's job of slowing them down. Be patient and let your horse try to figure it out. They will need to learn to be patient, too, and use lips and tongue to eat. It does require cleaning out mo
