Vetsulin, U-40 Injectable, 10 mL
Vetsulin (porcine insulin zinc suspension) is indicated for the reduction of hyperglycemia in cats and dogs with diabetes mellitus. It also helps reduce the associated clinical signs of hyperglycemia in cats and dogs. It is a sterile aqueous zinc suspension of purified porcine insulin that is injectable.
Vetsulin is the first and only FDA-approved insulin available in the USA for use in diabetes in dogs and cats.

Recommended dosages only. Always follow the directions for dosing and administration from your veterinarian.
Possible Side Effects
The most common side effect is low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) with symptoms that include; lethargy, staggering gait, seizure, or coma. Allergic reactions are rare and symptoms include; difficulty breathing, hives, scratching, swollen lips, tongue, eyelids, or earflaps, sudden onset of diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, pale gums, cold limbs, or coma. Contact your Veterinarian immediately if your dog or cat has a medical problem or side effect from Vetsulin therapy.
Storage
Store Vetsulin in an upright position under refrigeration at 2° to 8° C (36° to 46° F). Do not freeze. Protect from light. Use contents within 42 days of first vial puncture.
Contraindications of Vetsulin: Dogs and cats known to have systemic allergy to pork or pork products should not be treated with Vetsulin. Vetsulin is contraindicated during periods of hypoglycemia.
