The dee rings apply pressure to the horse's cheeks on the opposite side of the face from the rein you pull for better flexion. The mouthpiece has 3 features to help control a horse.
First, it is twisted to add some bite. Next, a 3-piece mouth breaks over the bar at an angle to contact new nerves. Last, the dog bone contacts the tongue for pressure to help rate and set a horse's head.
