Top 3 New Year's Eve Pet Safety Tips

New Year's Eve is a fun time for parties and celebrations, but not all of them are pet friendly. Here are some safety tips to keep your pets happy and healthy tonight too.

Time Shift

Since outdoor festivities and rowdy people will be most obtrusive at night, take your dog for a long walk during the day and avoid letting her out in the evening. Other than that, try to stick to your pet's regular and consistent routine.

Party Carefully

Groups of people can cause your pet to get stressed out, so if you must throw a party, keep the guest count low and provide a safe place for your pet to escape to if he gets overwhelmed. A favorite blanket, carrier or crate in a room that's not being used will work, and don't forget to throw in some of his toys. Don't let your pet get near any alcoholic beverages, and keep decorations, noisemakers, balloons and other party paraphernalia out of his reach. Thee are a few over the counter supplements that help in times of stress. There is also a homeopathic product from Homeopet specifically formulated for Thunderstorms, fireworks, and Loud Noises. Keep it Down

Animals have very sensitive hearing, so try to keep the noise level low. If increased noise such as a loud TV special, cheering or music is unavoidable, remove your pet from the area where the excessive sound level is occurring. Special occasions can be fun for pets as well as people.
