Pine Tar is a versatile and mildly antiseptic agent widely used in veterinary care for its softening and infection-drawing properties. While not as strong as Ichthammol for drawing infections, Pine Tar is highly effective in treating various skin complaints and maintaining hoof health. Its natural antiseptic qualities help combat fungal and bacterial infections, particularly in the hoof frog. It is also a popular ingredient for homemade hoof dressings and can be used with oakum as a hoof packing. When applied to hooves, Pine Tar helps retain moisture and promotes flexible hoof walls, making it an essential tool for farriers and horse owners alike.
Pine Tar, Vegetable Oil, Gum Resin, Isopropyl Alcohol (2-Propanol), Iodine, Potassium Iodide, Ichthammol, Hyamine (Benzethonium Chloride, 121-54-0). Includes Vegetable Oils, Corn Starch, Water, and Fiber.
Apply Pine Tar to the bottom of the hoof before shoeing as a packing product or use as needed to retain hoof moisture and address fungal or bacterial issues. For cuts or skin complaints, apply a thin layer to the affected area as directed.
For external use only. Consult a veterinarian if irritation persists or if you have concerns about your animal’s condition.
